Photoshop Text Effect Metal

Metal text effect

Step 1.

Start off with a new document
sized 600×600 filled with a dark blue gradient. Choose one dark blue and a ligher version. Or choose any colour Dark to Light.

Step 2.

Go to Filter-Noise-Add noise…

Step 3.

Add your text. Use a thick big font. I used Denmark font 170 pixels size.

We need to select the text we just added. You can do this by holding CTRL and pressing the thumbnail in the layer panel.

Go to Select-Modify-Contract by 7 pixels.

This is what you should have:

Create a new layer and fill the selection created with a lighter blue.

Step 4.

Add the following layer styles to this new contracted text layer:

Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

Bevel and Emboss:

Satin:

Gradient overlay:

Stroke:

This is how the metal text should look like:

Step 5.

Right click the first text layer panel and choose Rasterize text…

Set Blending Mode to Color Dodge.

Step 6.

Create another new layer underneath both text layers and fill it with a dark blue colour.

Set blending mode for this layer to Color Burn.

This is how it should look like:
