Button photoshop – tutorial

Step 1.

In this button photoshop tutorial we will need first to create a new document sized 300×300 pixels filled with a dark grey color. Using a blue colour on a new layer, grab the rounded rectangle tool and create a shape like below:

Step 2.

It`s time for a little detail. On this step we will need to zoom in the left bottom corner of the rectangle and using the rectangle marquee tool cover the corner and fill it blue, the best to use is a rounded thick brush because you can paint over the same layer. This will make the rounded corner square.

Repeat this step for the top right corner:

Step 3.

Add the following layer settings to the button layer:

Bevel and Emboss:

Gradient overlay:

Stroke:

Step 4.

After adding this layer settings create a new layer and grab a soft round brush with a gray color:

Set blending mode to Color Dodge and reduce opacity if necesary. It will depend on the color tone you used.

Step 5.

Add your text. Now you will need to select the button layer. To select it you can CTRL+Click on the thumnail in the layer panel.

Grab the rectangular marquee tool with the Subtract selection on like below and from bottom to top create a selection to the half of the button.

Step 6.

With the half button selected you will have to Create a New Layer on top of all layers and using the Gradient Tool fill the selection like below:

Set blending mode to Screen and reduce opacity if necesary. You have finished your button.
