Create an abstract colorful text effect using brushes, lines and blending modes using Adobe Photoshop.
Start of with a new document sized 600×600 with a gray background. Go to Filter-Noise-Pixelate with 5 cell size.
This is what you should have:
Create a new layer and fill it with a light blue color. Set blending mode to Overlay.
Let`s add our text. I added PSDARTIST, use a big thick font with a big size. I used Denmark with font size: 140 pixels.
Select the text layer you just created in the layers panel, right click it – Create Work Path. This will make a pen selection of your text. Delete the text layer and you should remain with this pen selection:
On this step we will give the pen selection a stroke but using a bubble brush. First we need to create our bubble brush. So select a round brush, size 4 pixels and go to brush settings(in the picture below the highlighted thumbnail):
On the setting panel check the Shape Dynamics and add the following settings to the Scattering panel:
We are done with the brush. Now let`s pick up the pen tool from the toolbar:
After you selected the pen tool , create a new layer, go with the mouse over the design area, right click it and select: Stroke path. Set blending mode to Color Dodge.
You should have this:
Also the pen selection should still be on. Again with the pen tool still selected right click again over the design area and choose Make Selection. This should convert your pen selection to a marquee selection like below:
With the selection on from the toolbox select the Rectangular Marquee tool:
Create another new layer and with the Rectangular Marquee tool selected right click over the design area and choose: Stroke… and choose 1 pixel. Again set blending mode for this layer to Color Dodge.
You are done, but you can spice the design very easy, adding more color filled layers and changing blending modes. Here are 2 variations:
